Too big, too small, too good to throw away?
Our clothes swap will be open at 10am for the drop-off of clothes for swapping. The ‘swap’ will commence at 11am. Light refreshments will be provided in the interim. Please be patient whilst our team of helpers sort the deposited clothes. We will be operating a one for one system, eg. if you drop off 5 items you are able to take away up to 5 items new to you.
The maximum number of swappable items to be deposited per person is 10.
Acceptable items include menswear, womenswear, children’s clothing , school uniform and baby clothes.
All items must be clean (please launder in advance) and undamaged.
Unfortunately, as this is our first clothes swap, we are unable to accept items of footwear, underwear and jewellery. However, your unwanted and unloved bras may be deposited in our ‘Bra Bank’ the recycling of which helps raise vital funds for pioneering breast cancer research.
You may not walk away with as many items as you brought, but rather than being frustrated, try allowing yourself to feel excited that the clothes you no longer wear have found a new home and that you a new piece or two to add to your wardrobe. In addition to the swap local business stallholders will be offering a selection of fragrance, skincare, toiletries and lingerie to buy.
Inevitably at the end of the swap there will be items left over. These will not go to waste but be recycled using a textile recycler or donated to a local charity. Should you have no more tickets but would like an item you may purchase it by making a small donation. All donations received by IEM are used in the provision of future events for the benefit of our community as a whole.
So, in the meantime start to clear out your unwanted clothes that still have some life left in them and are too good to throw away, in readiness for the swap.
This is a fantastic opportunity to refresh your wardrobe and at the same time reduce wastage and the amount of ‘fast fashion’ going to landfill.
